How can I stop this person from destroying my family?

My mom married this man that our family dislikes greatly. We tried to tell her he was a wife abuser, alcoholic, good for nothing person but she married him anyways. They live in Texas and I disliked him so much that I moved away to California. In September my mom was in a horrible motorcycle accident. She was in a coma like state for 2 months. She is awake now and slowly improving. Her new husband has totally banned her side of the family from seeing her. I cant even call the hospital to find out anything about her. They have only been married for 7 months and he has more access and power to her then I do and she gave birth to me. My younger twin sisters lived with them and they used to agree with me that he is a violent person. But, now they are not allowed to talk to our family and are kept from us. We can't do anything because they are old enough to say they where they want to live. Its just so hard, and I feel so helpless. This man is so violent and scary. He pushed my Grandpa down the stairs and my grandparents are so fearful of him that they didn't press charges. He has complete control over my mom's life and Im scared that when she gets to go home he will start abusing her again. My mom and I used to be extremely close until he came along and then we started fighting all the time. My question is, Does anyone have any ideas or know any laws or anything I can do to get my mom back? I just want to be able to talk to her or her nurses.
