My best guy friend wants to tell a girl he likes her but he's shy I told him a song could work. Help?

He writes music but he's having trouble trying to tell her he likes her cause he doesn't want to feel sappy. I want to help him but I'm not very good at lyric writing I'm better at poems. Anybody have segestions?
